If you haven’t heard of this adorable Doodle breed yet, you’ve been missing out big time. The Goldador Doodle is a mix of the Goldador and Poodle. In fact, the Goldador is a cross between the Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever. Add in the Poodle, and you’ll get one of the most amazing dog breeds there is! So, how big does a Goldador Doodle get? Let’s find out…
Goldador Doodle Size Predictions: How Big Does A Goldador Doodle Get?
Before we try to predict the Goldador Doodle size, we must first understand their lineage. The Goldador, although also a hybrid breed, is usually easily predictable in terms of size. Both Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers are similar in size. As a result, the Goldador typically weighs between 60 and 90 pounds with a height of 22 to 24 inches at the shoulder.
The Poodle, on the other hand, comes in three different sizes. For the Goldador Doodle, the most common Poodles used in the mix are Miniature and Standard Poodles. Standard Poodles weigh 38 to 70 pounds and have a usual height of 24 to 27 inches. The Minis weigh between 10 to 20 pounds and have a height of 10 to 15 inches at the shoulder. Naturally, the size of the Goldador Doodle is based on whether a Miniature or Standard Poodle is used in the mix.
These are the average Goldador Doodle size predictions:
Mini Goldador Doodle | Standard Goldador Doodle
Weight | 25-50 pounds | 50-90 pounds |
Height | 15-20 inches | 22-27 inches |
When Full-Grown? | 11-13 months | 12.5-16 months |
Looking at the Goldador Doodle size chart above, we learn that there’s quite a difference between the Standard and Mini Goldador Doodles. Like the Goldador parent, Standard Goldador Doodles are large dogs who weigh between 50 and 90 pounds. Their typical height is 22 to 27 inches measured at the withers. The Minis typically weigh between 25 and 50 pounds and they’re 15 to 20 inches tall at the shoulder.
Of course, as the Goldador Doodle is a fairly new hybrid breed that not many breeders specialize in, these are the currently known rough estimates. In addition to that, it’s not uncommon for some pups to be slightly larger or smaller than the estimates above. Not all puppies from the same litter aren’t even the same size.
What’s more, keep in mind that a Goldador Doodle’s full-grown size is determined by their gender, genetics, generation, diet, and how much they exercise. For instance, male Goldador Doodles are oftentimes slightly larger than females.
F1 Vs F1b Vs F2b Goldador Doodle
If you know a little bit about Doodles, you might have heard about the confusing term ‘generations’. Doodle generations show us how much of a puppy’s genetic makeup consists of either of the parental breeds. In addition to that, with generations, breeders can achieve more control over a Goldador Doodle’s size and other characteristics, such as their coat type, shedding levels, and appearance.
So, what do all the generations refer to? Here’s a simple cheatsheet:
1st Parent | 2nd Parent | % Goldador* | % Poodle*
F1 Goldador Doodle (first-generation) | Goldador | Poodle | 50% | 50% |
F1B Goldador Doodle (first-generation backcross) | F1 Goldador Doodle | Poodle | 25% | 75% |
F1BB Goldador Doodle (first-generation backcross backcross) | F1B Goldador Doodle | Poodle | 12.5% | 87.5% |
F2 Goldador Doodle (second-generation) | F1 Goldador Doodle | F1 Goldador Doodle | 50% | 50% |
F2B Goldador Doodle (second-generation backcross) | F1 Goldador Doodle | F1B Goldador Doodle | 37.5% | 62.5% |
F2B Goldador Doodle (alternate cross) | F2 Goldador Doodle | Poodle | 25% | 75% |
F3 / Multigen Goldador Doodle | F1B Goldador Doodle or higher | F1B Goldador Doodle or higher | Varies | Varies |
As the Goldador Doodle is a rather rare hybrid breed, only first-generation pups are mostly available at this point. However, we can expect this Doodle and its consecutive generations to become more and more popular in the future.
Also, keep in mind that although the Goldador Doodle is technically a first-generation Doodle, the exact percentage of Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever in the genetic makeup depends on the generation of the Goldador who’s used in the mix.
Goldador Doodle Size Charts & Growth Patterns
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s discuss the growth patterns of the Goldador Doodle. Like other dog breeds, Goldador Doodles experience the fastest growth in their first 6 months. After that, their growth will gradually slow down until it plateaus at their full adult weight between 11 and 16 months old. Depending on their estimated adult size, we can expect a Goldador Doodle to reach its full height between 10 to 12 months old. Although by that time they’ve reached their adult height, they’ll most likely continue to gain weight and girth to fill out over the upcoming months.
Speaking of, we’ve been collecting weight data from our Doodle Weight Prediction Calculator. The below Goldador Doodles size chart / graph shows the average weights by age (in weeks), per size of dog.
