This pup has inherited the best traits from both parents – their playful and outgoing nature, loving personality, and adorable size. This makes the Cavapoo a great furbaby to almost any household.

But if you’re thinking about adopting one, you’ve probably been wondering – how big does a Cavapoo get? Let’s find out!

Cavapoo Size Predictions: How Big Is A Full Grown Cavapoo?

The Cavapoo’s size ranges between 7 and 25 pounds in weight, and their height usually sits between 9 and 16 inches when measured at the shoulder. As you can tell, the Cavapoo is a smaller-sized pup, but there’s still quite a bit of room for variety.

Cavapoos generally come in two sizes – Toy and Mini Cavapoo. Mini Cavapoos are created by using a Miniature Poodle in the mix, whereas smaller Toy Cavapoos are bred by using the smallest Toy Poodle.

As the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel isn’t exactly large in stature, they aren’t usually mixed with Standard Poodles – the largest variety of the Poodle. Therefore, we don’t have the typical Standard Cavapoo. However, some breeders do call Mini Cavapoos “Standard” or “Medium”, as they’re bigger than the Toy Cavapoo.

As the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a smaller dog, they aren’t usually mixed with a Standard Poodle. Therefore, we don’t have the typical Standard Cavapoo. However, some breeders do call Mini Cavapoos “Standard” or “Medium”, as they are bigger than the Toy version.

Let’s now have a look at the full-grown sizes of Toy and Mini Cavapoos:

What Determines How Large A Cavapoo Can Be?

A Cavapoo’s size is largely determined by the size of its parents and genetics. Of course, environmental factors and their overall health and development can also play a role here. Still, if we’re trying to predict a Cavapoo’s full-grown size, the best place to start is by looking at their parents.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is considered as a toy breed by the AKC. Although quite a bit larger than many other toy breeds, these purebred dogs are still rather fun-sized, we might say. A purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel can weigh between 13 and 18 pounds with a height between 12 and 13 inches, give or take.

On the other hand, Miniature Poodles weigh in at about 10 to 20 pounds once fully grown, and stand between 10 to 15 inches tall at the shoulder. The smaller Toy Poodle weighs between 4 and 15 pounds with a height up to 10 inches.

In addition to that, generation can also affect a Cavapoo’s full-grown size. Here’s what we mean exactly…

F1 vs F1b vs F2b Cavapoo Size

As with any Doodle, Cavapoo’s size can also be predicted by their generation. To understand this better, let’s have a look at the different Cavapoo generations:

Doodle Generations explained 2022

With each generation, we can achieve more control over a Cavapoo’s size and other characteristics, such as their coat type and appearance. For instance, if a breeder’s goal is to achieve a smaller Toy Cavapoo, they can breed an F1b Cavapoo that has a smaller Cavapoo parent and a Toy Poodle parent.

How Does The Size Of A Cavapoo Affect You?

Although both Toy and Mini Cavapoos are rather small dogs, they can significantly vary in size. At first, it might not seem like a big deal, but there are some considerations you should keep in mind.

For starters, larger dogs generally eat more than smaller dogs, as their nutritional requirements are different. That’s normal in any species. Even though there might not be a huge size difference between Toy and Mini Cavapoos, we can expect Mini Cavapoos to eat slightly more than smaller Toy Cavapoos.

In addition to that, smaller toy breeds can be more prone to certain health health conditions, such as elbow dysplasia and patellar luxation. For this reason, you might have to feed a Toy Cavapoo dog food that’s specially formulated for small breeds.

Another thing to consider is the size of your home. As a general rule of thumb, the larger your pup, the more space they require. Again, even though Mini Cavapoos might not be that much larger, it’s still something worth keeping in mind. Moreover, larger Mini Cavapoos may have more stamina, so they might need more exercise like daily walks and playtime.

And lastly, if you have to bring your pup along to the office, cafe, or even on a flight, their size could also be a determining factor. Usually, it’s easier to travel with a smaller pet, and there might be weight and size limits on airplanes if you do want your Cavapoo to travel with you inside the cabin.

Cavapoo Size Charts & Growth Patterns

As full-grown Cavapoos are on the smaller size, they tend to reach their full size sooner than some larger Doodles. Usually, they will do the fastest growing up until they reach half of their adult size. After that, the growth slows down, and usually stops around the time they turn one year old. Depending on their estimated size, this can be either a bit sooner, or later.

We’ve created an interactive Doodle puppy growth calculator to make things a bit easier for all Doodle owners. If you’re currently raising a Cavapoo puppy, make sure to try out our Cavapoo size chart and puppy growth calculator to predict their full-grown size!

Mini Cavapoo Size

The Miniature Cavapoo is a mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature Poodle. A Mini Cavapoo’s full-grown size ranges around 13 to 25 pounds in weight, and 12 to 16 inches in height.

Mini Cavapoos usually reach half of their adult size around 3.5 to 5 months of age. At around 11 to 13 months old, they will reach their full size.

To calculate your Mini Cavapoo’s size once they reach adulthood, you can try this formula:

Toy Cavapoo Size

Toy Cavapoo is an adorable mix of the Toy Poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel – the smallest Cavapoo you can find. A Toy Cavapoo’s full-grown weight is usually around 7 to 13 pounds, and their height can range from 9 to 12 inches.

Generally, Toy Cavapoos reach half of their adult weight at around 3.5 months old, and their full adult size around 7.5-11 months of age.

To predict your Toy Cavapoo’s size, you can use this simple formula:

Additionally, you also might have heard about the Teacup Cavapoo. Often, many breeders call their toy pups Teacup Cavapoos. However, please keep in mind that puppy mills and irresponsible breeders use unethical practices to produce very small Cavapoos.

For instance, unethical breeders use the smallest puppies from a litter – the runts – to breed Teacup Cavapoos. Sadly, runts typically already suffer from health problems, and breeding new babies from unhealthy dogs usually affects the puppies, as well.

I am really upset with my breeder. The pup’s parents are 12 lbs and 8 lbs. I purchased what I was told would be a Cavapoo at 15 lbs. Well she is almost 7 months and now 15 lbs. She was 9.8 lbs at 18 weeks so I am hoping that means she will still be less than 20 lbs. We had plans to travel and other things that now because dog is bigger we can not. I stressed with breeder my concerns before purchase. In my mind I paid for something I did not get!

Maybe you should have researched the breed before buying her…Everything about Cavapoo’s say they get to be 13-25 lbs. and you speak as if she is a piece of property and not a loving part of your family.
