The Dalmadoodle, a.k.a Dalmapoo or Dalmatian Poodle, is such a sweet, cute-as-a-button crossbreed that makes a wonderful companion for singles, families, and couples alike. They’re highly intelligent, energetic, and best of all, they don’t shed nearly as much as the purebred Dalmatian. 

So, if you’ve always wanted to get that cute, spotty Dalmatian, but welcoming such a heavy shedder in your family is not an option, then the Dalmadoodle might be the perfect choice for you! 

Of course, one key thing to consider when adopting a dog is their size. This will help you determine whether or not you have the space at home to accommodate a pet, and even how much money you’ll have to spend on doggy groceries. 

Dalmadoodle Size Predictions: How Big Does A Dalmadoodle Get?

The Dalmadoodle size can range anywhere from 20 and up to 70 pounds, with their height ranging between 15 and 23 inches. But like with other Poodle mixes, their size greatly depends on the size of the Poodle used in the mix. 

The purebred Dalmatian is quite a large dog with an average weight between 45 and 70 pounds. They usually have a height of around 19 to 24 inches when measured from the shoulder. 

On the other hand, the Poodle comes in three distinct size categories – Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Standard Poodles are in a very similar size range as purebred Dalmatians with their average weight ranging between 38 and 70 pounds. They usually stand around 24 and 27 inches, which makes them quite a few inches taller than Dalmatians. 

Then there’s the Miniature Poodle, weighing in significantly less at 10 to 20 pounds on average. They usually grow to 10 to 15 inches tall. And finally, the smallest of them all, the Toy Poodle weighs as little as 4 pounds, going up to 12 pounds as an adult. They’re also quite tiny with their average height staying below 10 inches. 

Although they can be bred with all sizes of the Poodle, the most common varieties usually include either Standard or Miniature Poodles. But like with other Poodle mixes, once the Dalmadoodle becomes more popular and well-known, we can expect breeders to introduce the Toy Poodle into the mix as well.

The Standard Dalmadoodle size usually sits between 40 and 70 pounds, and their height can range between 20 and 24 inches. Meanwhile, Miniature Dalmadoodles tend to weigh much less, about 20 to 40 pounds. They also tend to be shorter in height, generally around 15 to 19 inches at the shoulder.

With purebred dogs, the breeding process is very straightforward – a breeder mates two health and DNA tested dogs and the outcome should be quite easily predictable. With crossbreeds, there are so many variables to consider, and we can’t really predict anything unless we know the exact genetic makeup of the pups. And that’s where generations come into play.

A Doodle’s generation is a way for us to understand how a litter of puppies were bred. Have they been bred by crossing two purebred dogs, or is one of the parents a Doodle? Based on that, we can make estimates about which traits will be more prominent in the litter. Still, keep in mind that a Dalmadoodle’s generation isn’t a guarantee about their genetics!

Gender Differences

Another thing to note is that the Dalmadoodle size can also range depending on the pup’s gender. Like with many other larger breeds, males can be slightly heavier and taller than females. Therefore, the Dalmadoodle size often ranges between 40 and 65 pounds for females, and between 45 and 70 pounds for males.

Nonetheless, gender doesn’t guarantee that a Dalmadoodle will be bigger or smaller. At the end of the day, it all comes down to their genetics, activity levels, diet, growth spurts, even placement in the mother’s womb, and other health conditions.

Puppies generally grow the fastest until they reach 50% of their full adult weight. This often correlates to the first six months of a puppy’s life, but smaller dogs tend to reach that milestone faster than larger dogs. 

Interestingly, dogs reach their full adult height sooner than their full adult weight. So, if you’re noticing that your puppy is already quite tall, but their weight doesn’t seem to be catching up, it’s very likely that they’ll continue growing in weight over the next few months.

Standard Dalmadoodles typically reach half their adult weight around 4.5 and 6 months of age, depending on their estimated size. They’ll then plateau at their full adult weight some time between 12 and 16 months.
