Mastidoodle, Mastipoo, Mastiffpoo, or Mastiffdoodle – the possibilities are pretty much endless with this Doodle breed! The Mastiff-Poodle mix is certainly one of the rarest, but nonetheless one of the greatest hybrid breeds of all. Combining the great stature of the Mastiff and the hypoallergenic coat from the Poodle, the Mastidoodle catches anyone’s attention while out and about. They’re often referred to as gentle giants and they even look like huge, lifesize teddy bears. But how big does this Doodle actually get?

Mastidoodle Size Predictions: How Big Does The Mastiff Poodle Mix Get?

When we try to predict the Mastidoodle size, we must first take a look at its parents. As we’re combining two different breeds together, the outcome is never set in stone. Rather, we can make fairly accurate guesses and predictions based on the size of the Poodle and Mastiff.

As you might know, the Mastiff is one of the largest dog breeds out there. Typically, Mastiffs weigh between 120 and 230 pounds. Females are usually around 120 to 170 pounds, whereas males tend to weigh between 160 and 230 pounds. Their height starts from 27.5 inches. That’s one extra large dog, for sure!

Now, the Poodle actually comes in three sizes: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. As you might guess, due to the Mastiff’s humongous size, they are only ever crossed with Standard Poodles, who on average weigh between 38 and 70 pounds. As the Mastiff Poodle mix is relatively new and rare, they are currently mostly bred as first-generation Mastidoodles. However, over time, we might be able to see more generations of this breed and Mini Poodles introduced into the mix. Let’s wait and see!

So, how big does a Mastidoodle get? Let’s have a look at the average Mastidoodle size predictions:

Standard Mastidoodle
Weight80-140 pounds
Height24-36 inches
When Full-Grown?18-36 months
*A dog’s height is measured from their withers, which is the highest part of their shoulder blades.

As we can see from the Mastidoodle size chart above, the Mastiff Poodle mix doesn’t fall far behind the Mastiff parent. They’re extra large Doodles who weigh between 80 and 140 pounds, some even heavier than that. Their usual height starts from 24 inches and goes up to 36 inches at the shoulder.

What Determines The Size Of A Mastidoodle?

Naturally, based on the average Mastidoodle size predictions, there can be quite a difference between the pups. Some Mastidoodles are super large and resemble more of the Mastiff parent, whereas others take more after the smaller Poodle parent. In addition to that, male Mastidoodles tend to be taller and heavier than females, which is especially common in large breed dogs.

You should also keep in mind that a Mastidoodle’s full-grown size is determined by their generation, diet, and how much they exercise. For example, over or underfeeding your dog in puppyhood can drastically affect its growth. For extra large pups like the Mastidoodle, we recommend you opt for foods specially formulated for large breed dogs, and make sure you feed your pup the recommended amount of food daily

As we briefly mentioned, today the Mastidoodles are usually bred as first-generation Doodles. Of course, this also comes with somewhat unpredictable outcomes, as first-generation dogs are a 50-50 mix of both parental breeds. However, in the future we might be able to see more Mastidoodle generations introduced once they become more popular and wide-spread. With each consecutive generation, breeders can achieve more control over the size, coat type, and appearance of the new litters.

Here we’ve broken down all the possible Mastidoodle generations, so you’ll have a better understanding what each of them means:

Mastidoodle Size Charts & Growth Patterns

Although the Mastidoodle is a hybrid breed, they follow very similar growth patterns as any other purebred or hybrid breed dog out there. During the first 6 months from birth, they experience the fastest growth rates. A 6 month old Mastidoodle puppy is already going to be tall and heavy, but there’s still a long way to go until they reach their adult size. After the 6 month mark, their growth will gradually slow down over time. Mastidoodles generally reach their full adult height somewhere around 12 to 18 months old, but they will continue to gain weight and fill out for at least a few more months after that.

We’ve created an interactive Mastidoodle size chart and growth calculator, which lets you predict your Mastidoodle’s full-grown weight and track their growth into adulthood. Enter your Doodle’s type, size, age in weeks, current weight, and our calculator reveals you the results!

A Standard Mastidoodle usually reaches half its adult weight around 6 months old. We can expect a Mastidoodle to reach its full-grown size somewhere between 18 and 36 months old, depending on their size. Larger Mastidoodles typically take more time to fully mature than smaller Mastidoodles.

You can calculate your Mastidoodle’s full-grown size by using this formula:
