Shepadoodle Size Predictions: How Big Do Shepadoodles Get?

The Shepadoodle is a hybrid cross between a Poodle and a German Shepherd. Combining these beautiful purebred dogs will, of course, result in the fluffiest, most adorable, teddy bear-looking pup.

Although the German Shepherd is one of the most popular breeds in America, it might not be the best choice for people with allergies. However, thanks to the low and non-shedding Poodle genes, the less-known Shepadoodle might be the perfect option.

Like with any other hybrid dog breed, there’s much unpredictability involved when trying to guess how a Shepadoodle puppy will turn out. Whether it’s the looks, character, personality, or size, your Doodle puppy might take after either of the parent breeds.

So how big are Shepadoodles? Based on the size of the German Shepherd, we can almost always expect a Shepadoodle to grow into a larger-sized dog. For the sake of the offspring’s health, German Shepherds are mostly crossed with Standard Poodles. However, you might come across smaller Shepadoodles who have a Miniature Poodle parent added to the mix.

Shepadoodle Size Charts & Growth Patterns

Although all dogs, especially hybrid breeds like the Shepadoodle, are unique and experience growth in their own way, there are some observed growth patterns that all puppies follow. As of October 24, 2022, we’ve received over 1,700 accurate Shepadoodle weight submissions through our calculator.

Like most other breeds, Shepadoodles will experience the fastest growth spurts in the first 6 months. Depending on their estimated adult size, they will reach their adult height around 10 to 12 months old. 

Now, although it might seem that you have a full-grown Shepadoodle, they will most likely continue to gain some more weight and girth in the upcoming months to fill out. Generally, we can expect Shepadoodles to finish growing between 1 and 1.5 years old. 

Standard Shepadoodle

Standard Shepadoodle size is probably the most widely available option, as the Shepadoodle is a relatively new designer breed. 

Typically, we can expect a Standard Shepadoodle to reach half their adult weight between 4.5 to 6 months old. Around that time, their growth will start to gradually slow down, until plateaus at their full adult weight around 12.5-16 months of age.

Mini Shepadoodle

Mini Shepadoodles tend to grow up faster than the larger Standard Shepadoodles. We can expect a Mini Shepadoodle to reach half their adult weight around 3.5 to 5 months old. By the time your pup is 11 to 13 months old, they’ll most likely finish growing.

Is A Shepadoodle A Large Breed Dog?

Generally speaking, Shepadoodles are medium to large size hybrid breed dogs. Standard Shepadoodles can weigh up to 90 pounds as adults. On the other hand, Miniature Shepadoodles are quite a bit smaller, and will better fit into the medium sized category. 

How Big Do Shepadoodles Get?

Your Shepadoodle’s size greatly depends on their genetic makeup, generation, gender, diet, and exercise. For instance, male Shepadoodles can be slightly larger than females. Additionally, the size of the Poodle parent can play a key role in a Shepadoodle puppy’s size. If a German Shepherd is mixed with a Standard Poodle, it will most likely result in a larger dog.

What Is The Average Size Of A Shepadoodle?

On average, Standard Shepadoodles weigh around 50 to 90 pounds and stand at 22 to 27 inches tall at the shoulder. Miniature Shepadoodles typically weigh between 25 to 50 pounds and stand at 15 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder. But keep in mind that these are the average estimates, and a Shepadoodle puppy might fall slightly outside of these estimates. 

At What Age Is A Shepadoodle Full Grown?

Typically, we can expect a Standard Shepadoodle to reach its full-grown size around the time they’re 12.5 to 16 months old. However, Minis will usually take less time to reach their adult weight. Typically, around 11 to 13 months.
