In this post (and video) we’ll be trying out the Cowboy Magic Shampoo and Conditioner and telling you all about it!

Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo and Conditioner

This post/video is not sponsored by Cowboy Magic, but they did send us their Rosewater Shampoo and Conditioner to try out after we made our video on their Detangler and Shine product. I had been waiting for the perfect time to try them out, so what better day to give Chloe a nice bath and blow out than her 12th birthday (a.k.a. Thanksgiving Day)!

Side note: I cannot believe Chloe is 12 years old. Yes, she’s slowed down a little and has cloudy eyes, but she’s still such a spunky, feisty little girl. She’s brought me and my husband so much joy over the years and we’re hope we get to spend many more years with her.

Anyway, let’s get into the review. Feel free to follow along by watching this video:

Using the Cowboy Magic Shampoo

I got Chloe into the dog wash, rinsed her down, and applied the Cowboy Magic Shampoo.

Right off the bat, I was impressed. It lathered up really nice, the consistency was nice, and it smelled pretty good. It wasn’t strongly scented, but subtle yet just enough.

I started with one half of Chloe’s body, then moved to the other side. I worked from top to bottom, first getting the top of her body, going down the legs, and finally giving her feet and paws a really good scrubbing with the shampoo.

After rinsing all the shampoo out, I could see immediately that Chloe’s dirty hair was no longer. The dirt stains on her feet were totally gone. Talk about a deep cleanse!

Using the Cowboy Magic Conditioner

I then applied a small amount of the Cowboy Magic conditioner to the top of Chloe’s body and part-way down her legs. I also got the conditioner under her arm pits and her groin since those areas tend to tangle a lot more.

The conditioner bottle does say you can dilute it 1 ounce to 2 gallons, which I obviously didn’t do here. But after applying the conditioner around Chloe’s body I did use the sprayer to add some water and dilute it just a bit so I could lather it in some more. I then let it sit for a minute or two and then started rinsing it off.

So in my personal experience with hair conditioner, during rinsing I always feel this oiliness in my hair. I suppose that’s the point of conditioner, right? But with the Cowboy Magic conditioner, Chloe’s hair had less of an oily feeling and more of a silky-smooth feeling. So that was definitely something that caught my attention.

After rinsing her body of the conditioner, I shampooed up her head and face, rinsed, and we were done.

Blow Drying to See the Results

I then rung her out, and let her drip dry and shake off before moving her back to the grooming table for blow drying.

After putting on her Happy Hoodie to help with her loud-noise anxiety, we started blow drying.

And as I started running my fingers through her hair, I could still feel that nice silky-softness. And I don’t know if it was because of the Cowboy Magic, or if it was because I brushed her while blow drying (it was probably both), but I could have sworn that Chloe was drying way faster than usual.

It wasn’t until the very end that Chloe was completely dry and I could confirm with my own eyes and hands that the Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo and Conditioner had both done a superb job.

She was super fluffy, almost blinding white, and her hair – even a few days later – just felt super soft, silky, and super hydrated.

Everyone in my house couldn’t help but pet her, which I’m sure she just loved, as well!

Thoughts on the Cowboy Magic Shampoo and Conditioner

I definitely want to say that this was the best shampoo I’ve ever used; even out of all the shampoos I’ve used on myself. Ironically, this shampoo is not only suitable for Doodles, but it can be used on horses, cats, and yes – even humans.

But from my experience with this shampoo and conditioner, I have no doubts that for many Doodle parents, these two products can be a secret weapon for deep cleaning, detangling those gorgeous Doodle curls and waves, and turning your pup into a super soft cuddly monster, no matter their coat type.

I bought both the shampoo and conditioner. I have an 11 week old Goldendoodle and as puppies do the roll in the grass and get dirty more frequently. So I wanted something that could not only keep his coat clean and help to keep it from tangling but because he’s a puppy something that is gentle for frequent weekly baths. Cowboy magic did it. Great product and will now also use it in my grown Siberian Husky who only gets bathed three times a year. His coat is super thick and frequently bathing is not recommended on these dogs but will be using it when he gets his.

It’s not ironic if it works on humans as well. It’s incidental. It would be ironic if it wasn’t for use on cowboys.

I have a degree from Northwestern.
