Swiss Doodle, the hybrid of hybrids, is a mix of two great Doodles – Aussiedoodle and Bernedoodle. As Swiss Doodles are a combination of two established Doodle breeds, they are often called Double Doodles. Swiss Doodle is also known as Australian Mountain Doodle or Aussie Mountain Doodle.

Swiss Doodle’s full-grown size can range anywhere from 30 to 60 pounds, and 19 to 25 inches in height. Further, usually Swiss Doodles are categorized in two sizes – mini / medium and standard.

F1 vs F1b vs F2b Swiss Doodle

If you know a little bit about Doodles, you’ve probably heard of the Doodle generations. With older hybrid breeds we know that the mix includes a Poodle parent and another established breed parent. However, Swiss Doodle makes the equation slightly different.

Swiss Doodles are already multi-generation Doodles. To create a Swiss Doodle, there first has to be an Aussiedoodle (a hybrid mix of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle), and a Bernedoodle (a hybrid mix of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle).

Even though Aussiedoodle and Bernedoodle both come from standard sized parent pups – Australian Shepherd and Bernese Mountain Dog – the Swiss Doodle can be backcrossed to a Miniature Poodle or a Mini Aussiedoodle or Mini Bernedoodle. 

With Double Doodles, there’s an even bigger possibility to highlight one of the parent breeds in a generational mix. Therefore, there’s bigger control over a Swiss Doodle’s size.

Swiss Doodle Size Charts & Growth Patterns

Full-grown Swiss Doodles mainly come in two sizes – Mini / Medium Swiss Doodle, and Standard Swiss Doodle. Typically, Standard Doodles take more time to reach their full size than smaller Doodles. However, most Doodles go through the fastest growth spurts in the first 6 months of their life. After that, their growth gradually slows down until it plateaus by the time they’re around 12 months old.

Standard Swiss Doodles do take a bit more time to reach their full size. Typically, they reach half their adult weight around the time they’re 4.5 to 6 months old. Standard Swiss Doodles usually see a plateau in weight gain between 12.5 to 16 months of age.

Mini / Medium Swiss Doodle

Mini Swiss Doodle’s full-grown weight usually ranges between 30 to 40 pounds. They stand around 19 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder. 

As they are smaller than the Standard Swiss Doodles, they also reach adulthood faster. Usually, they reach half of their adult weight around the time they’re 3.5 to 5 months old. Mini Swiss Doodles usually reach their adult weight around 11 to 13 months of age.
