Corgipoo Size Predictions: How Big Does A Corgipoo Get?

The Corgipoo, a.k.a Corgidoodle, is a cross between the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Poodle. As you can imagine, trying to predict the Corgipoo size can be quite tricky, especially considering that we’re mixing two completely different purebred dogs. For the most accurate Corgipoo size estimates, we must first take a look at their heritage. After all, it’s the genetics that determine the Corgipoo size. 

First we have the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, known for its distinctive low height and long body. Corgi is quite a small dog and can be categorized as a small to medium-sized breed. Tiny as they are, they only grow about 10 to 12 inches tall. Nonetheless, they do have quite a substantial body weight of about 22 to 30 pounds once fully-grown. 

Then there’s the Poodle that comes in three different sizes – Toy, Miniature, and Standard, from smallest to largest. For the Corgipoo mix, the most common variation used is the Miniature Poodle, ranging from 10 to 20 pounds in weight, and 10 to 15 inches in height. 

Toy Poodles can also be used in the mix to achieve smaller Corgipoo pups. Toy Poodles generally weigh between 4 and 12 pounds, and they’re less than 10 inches tall. Considering the Corgi’s small size, they’re almost never crossed with Standard Poodles. Obviously, the size of Poodle used in the mix will greatly influence a Corgipoo’s size. 

Corgipoo Size Predictions For Standard & Mini Corgipoos

So, how big does a Corgipoo get exactly? Here’s a Corgipoo size chart with the typical estimates for full-grown Corgipoos:

The Corgipoo’s size ranges quite a lot, as these pups can weigh anywhere from 12 to 25 pounds, with a height of 8 to 12 inches measured at the shoulder. 

The Corgipoo isn’t currently widely categorized as Toy, Mini, or Standard Corgipoos, since they are relatively new and rare crossbreed dogs. However, for clarity’s sake, we separated Mini and Standard Corgipoos based on the size of the Poodle used in the mix. 

Most commonly, a Corgi is crossed with a Miniature Poodle, which we refer to as Standard Corgipoo in this guide. Corgipoos with a Toy Poodle parent may be considered as Mini Corgipoos. These terms may still vary from breeder to breeder, but we can expect there to be Corgipoo size standards set in the future once this Doodle breed becomes more popular and available.

There’s also the matter of the litter’s generation. What’s that, you may ask? To put it simply, a hybrid breed can be created in numerous ways, which will ultimately influence the puppies’ genetic makeup, looks, coat type, and size, among other things.

As we discussed earlier, it can be quite difficult trying to predict a Corgipoo’s size, especially if they’re a 50-50 mix of Poodle and Corgi. But with each consecutive generation we can achieve more control over a Corgipoo’s size and other characteristics. 

Corgipoo Size Charts & Growth Patterns

Corgipoos follow similar growth patterns like other dogs, which means that we can expect a Corgipoo puppy to grow the fastest in the first 50% of their adult weight. As puppies reach half their full size, their growth will start to gradually slow down over time, until it generally plateaus somewhere around the first birthday. Keep in mind, however, that puppies tend to finish growing in height sooner. So, it’s perfectly normal for a puppy to continue growing in weight and width a few months after they’ve reached their full height. 

Standard Corgipoo

Standard Corgipoos have a Miniature Poodle parent, resulting in a pup that will weigh between 15 and 25 pounds once fully-grown. We can expect Standard Corgipoos to reach half their adult weight between 3.5 and 5 months old. A Standard Corgipoo will then continue to grow at a slower pace, until they reach their full adult weight between 11 and 13 months of age.

Mini Corgipoo

Mini Corgipoos, sometimes also referred to as Toy Corgipoos, are smaller in both height and weight – they’re typically up to 15 pounds heavy and up to 10 inches tall. 

Like the Standard Corgipoo, the Mini Corgipoo follows similar growth patterns. However, they usually grow faster than their larger counterparts, which is very common in smaller dogs. Mini Corgipoos usually reach half their adult weight at approximately 3.5 months old. A Mini Corgipoo will then plateau at its full adult weight somewhere between 7.5 and 11 months of age.
